The local Royal Canadian College of Organists, Victoria Centre is excited to be able to offer a unique opportunity for piano students with Dr. Mark McDonald at Christ Church Cathedral. It is a free event that takes place the morning of April 25th, 2026 from 9am-Noon. We are hoping to build excitement for organ playing in the younger generation so we can help to encourage a strong musical community here in Victoria.
International Organ Day is an annual, global celebration of the pipe organ and its music, meant to encourage public engagement with the instrument. The event, which often features concerts, workshops, and opportunities to play, will take place on Saturday, April 25, 2026 from 9am-Noon. Our local Royal Canadian College of Organists, Victoria Centre is inviting piano students who have completed at least level 6 RCM to bring a List A repertoire piece to play on the iconic Wolff organ, under the guidance of Christ Church Cathedral Assistant Director of Music, Dr. Mark McDonald. This is a FREE event that requires pre-registration at www.rcco-victoria.org due to a limited number of spaces available. There will also be an opportunity to learn more about bursary and scholarships available to pipe organ students. Expand your keyboard skills, meet some inspiring pipe organ students who belong to the Victoria Organ Studio and learn about what makes playing the pipe organ unique- having an orchestra at your fingertips is just a start! This is a morning not to be missed!

The Victoria Organ Studio was founded in 2021 to educate the next generation of organists through group classes and educational events. The group of students and instructors meet regularly for classes on the iconic Hellmuth Wolff organ at Victoria's Christ Church Cathedral and participate in visits and classes on some of the west coast's most important instruments.
